National Sparring TeamShin’s Martial Fitness Center National Sparring Team (Team Fury) participates in several Olympic Style Tae Kwon Do Competitions each year. These tournaments are organized by the California Tae Kwon Do Association and sanctioned by the U.S.A.T. (U.S.A. Tae Kwon Do), the same organization that governs our U.S. National Team. In 2007, Shin’s was the only Tae Kwon Do school in the Santa Clarita Valley with a player who qualified to compete in the 2007 U.S. National Championships held in Colorado Springs. In order to compete at the national level, players must first qualify by placing in the top three of their respective weight categories in each state. The top three fighters in each weight category from each state then move on to compete for the National Championship. Team training is intense and involves countless hours of practice in several different areas: plyometrics, speed & agility, core conditioning, sparring technique & tournament strategy. To aid in their athletic development, team members utilize several pieces of equipment including: ripcords, jump ropes, speed & agility ladders, viper belts, JC bands, medicine balls, a rock wall and Olympic Sized trampolines. Over the years, Shin’s has produced more champions than any other Tae Kwon Do school in the Santa Clarita Valley.
