MMA utilizes a variety of self-defense techniques and skills from a mixture of martial arts. This program focuses on three general areas of MMA training: ground fighting, wrestling, and striking. Heavily influenced by Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques, students learn practical ground fighting skills including joint locks and choke holds giving them the ability to seek fight-ending submission holds. Because the ability to perform takedowns is essential to ground fighting strategy, our MMA program emphasizes wrestling techniques to teach our students how to execute clean, powerful takedowns. Integral to MMA training, striking is also incorporated. This program is by invitation only.

What’s the Difference Between MMA and Other Martial Arts?
MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) is a combat sport that combines techniques from different fighting styles like boxing, wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Muay Thai. Traditional martial arts, like karate or taekwondo, focus on one style with specific techniques and rules.
Key Differences:
- MMA uses multiple fighting styles, while other martial arts focus on one.
- MMA has flexible rules allowing striking and grappling, both standing and on the ground.
- Traditional martial arts often include philosophy, discipline, and cultural traditions; MMA is more sport- and performance-based.
- MMA training mixes strength, striking, grappling, and conditioning, while other martial arts follow a set system and ranking structure.
In short: MMA is a mix of different combat techniques for versatility, while other martial arts stick to one method with deeper traditions.
