Participating in a physically engaging activity helps stimulate your children's growing minds while teaching them to master new developmental stages. As children transition through each stage, our programs are designed to shepherd in new skills while honing old ones. These programs teach children to engage with their peers, offering a safe and stimulating environment in which they can explore martial arts acrobatics, beginning martial arts, trampolines, and other activities that every young one naturally enjoys.

Prepare Your Child for School and Beyond

If your child will begin kindergarten soon, enroll them in a child development program for their age group! Lessons learned in our developmental programs are meant to ease the transition into full-time schooling. We give your child the tools he or she needs in order to succeed in the educational system.

Children who participate in our programs excel in the following:

  • An increase in ability to follow directions
  • Positive classroom participation
  • More confidence when interacting with their peers
  • Ability to focus for longer periods of time
  • Heightened awareness of their personal need to expend energy in positive outlets

Fostering a Positive Learning Environment

At Shin's Family Martial Arts Center, our programs are intended for children ages 4 and older, just before or right as they are getting ready to participate in daily classroom activities. Often, parents find that children who participated in our programs are more ready to engage in the classroom environment, for they have learned how to listen to instructors and how to co-exist with their classmates in a classroom setting. With instructors who have many years of experience working with children, and are safety certified, you can rest assured knowing your child is being led by instructors who truly have his or her well-being at heart.

  • Tae Kwon Do Fun With Master Shin

“Master Shin prepared our three sons in the areas of self discipline, respect for others and confidence to know they could deflect a problem situation. The best part of it all is Master Shin provided structure under the pretense of fun and excitement, from breaking wood and bricks, to roundhouse kicks, endless hours of techniques…all the while with smiles and loads of energy. The lessons our sons learned early on have now carried them thru their young adult lives. We adore Master Shin! Sincerely, Steve & Diane Arklin”

  • Friendly family atmosphere for thirty years

“Dear Master Shin, When Cole wanted to be a ninja at age 3, my husband only wanted to take him to Shin’s because of the positive experience he had there some 20 years ago. When Cole just sat there in class the first day, you told us that he’s just observing and will come around. You were absolutely right! Cole entered Shin’s this shy little kid who introduced himself as Batman. Now 4+ years later he is a slightly bigger kid with confidence, martial arts skills and respect for all those around him. You and your staff have been an incredible part of both of my kids’ lives, and I hope it continues for a very long time. May you continue to impress a positive experience in both kids and adults for many more years to come. Thank you! Willy, Charissa, Cole and Julia Harber”

  • Santa Clarita’s Ultimate Training Center for Tae Kwon Do Martial Arts

“Where can you go in Santa Clarita for National level training in Tae Kwon Do sparring? Shin’sFamily Martial Arts! Our four daughters were small, shy, sweet girls who needed to grow in confidence and physical ability (and a little self defense could come in handy down the road). So we enrolled them at Shin’s as early as 3 years of age. The instructors are fantastic and know how to challenge kids both physically and mentally. One of the great growing opportunities occurs in competition with winning and losing at tournaments. And fortunately at Shin’s, there is a lot more winning. Our oldest daughter after 4 years at Shin’s placed 1st at the Jr. Olympics. Our girls are still small, shy, and sweet; but now they are also agile, strong, capable of performing under pressure, and they can fight! Takeshi Nakazawa”

  • Why You Should Take Tae Kwon Do

“INTRO Think: Many people are victims of bullies who beat them up. Do you want to be one of them? To prevent you from getting bullied, there is a thing called Tae Kwon Do. Discover this martial art, as we journey through kicks and punches to learn three good reasons for studying Tae Kwon Do: Self-Defense, Stature, and Discipline. REASON 1: Self-Defense To begin with, you should learn Tae Kwon Do because if somebody attacks you, you can defend yourself. Many kids are bullied each year, and some are even kidnapped, but you can prevent yourself from being one of them by learning this martial art. For example, most people who can hurt you, can easily be stopped by a kick between the legs. Besides, if your muscles are strong enough and you’re in top shape, you could defend yourself and even if the person manages to punch you, you might not get hurt so bad. Tae Kwon Do can defend and protect you REASON 2: Stature Secondly, you should learn Tae Kwon Do because when you get fit, you’ll look quite impressive delivering punches and kicks. Have you seen those marital art movies? When you become a black-belt, you could perform moves like those. Who knows? Once you get really good at Tae Kwon Do, you could get signed up to be in a movie, and, maybe you might be a star! In any case, Tae Kwon Do can make you look impressive Why You Should Take Tae Kwon Do REASON 3: Discipline Finally, you must take Tae Kwon Do to learn discipline. Yes, I said discipline. Tae Kwon Do isn’t just about the moves. It doesn’t matter how strong your kicks are, or how fast your punches are, if you are undisciplined, you won’t get your next belt. To have discipline, do your best, be respectful, say “Yes sir” to anything your Master says in class, bow to the flags when you come in/out of the Dojang, and remain quiet at all times, except when you are kicking. When you kick, yell “kiap!” Just doing those simple things will make you better liked by the instructors and admired by others. Discipline means that you train the body and mind to react automatically, and not to use force unless necessary. Tae Kwon Do is discipline COUNTER-ARGUMENT Many people say that if someone fights you, you should tell an adult. But what if the bullying doesn’t stop after you tell? What if someone starts punching and beating you? Are you just going to let he/she finish you off, and then later tell on them? Or, are you going to show your opponent what you think of the bullying? Tae Kwon Do is about self-defense CLOSING So, as you have learned, Tae Kwon Do isn’t just kicks. It’s discipline, respect, stature and self-defense. I believe that Tae Kwon Do promotes health, learning, protection and fun. Remember, Tae Kwon Do is: Defense and Offense, Stature, Discipline and Respect. So, why don’t you sign up for some Tae Kwon Do lessons today? KIAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

  • My son begged me to take Tae Kwon Do classes for two years…

“until I finally relented, and I’m really glad that I did. From the very first day, he loved it, both the Tae Kwon Do training and the gymnastics. I was pleased that Shin’s offers trampoline and tumbling which allowed him to continue his gymnastics training while introducing Tae Kwon Do. I also loved both the flexibility of Shin’s schedule, which offers a multitude of class times, and the variety of classes offered. My son hasn’t gotten bored; twice last year, new classes were introduced that took him into new directions. The instruction at Shin’s is top notch. I’ve been very impressed with their teaching techniques; the instructors break down each kick or strike into its basic components so that it’s easy to understand. Students are given guidance on improving their technique and are challenged to take their skills to the next level. The instructors provide an atmosphere of positive encouragement while at the same time teaching discipline. They emphasize showing respect to each other, instructors, and parents. They include safety talks and instruction on how to handle bullies. The classes are well organized with warm-ups and conditioning at the beginning of each class, followed by a variety of drills. But, each class is unique so you don’t get bored in the same-old routine. Over the last 10 months, my daughter, husband and I have all joined up as well, so now it’s a family affair. We attend classes together a couple times a week, and go our own way on other days to classes that match our specific interests. Over dinner, we tell each other about new techniques we learned. Together, we are working towards our goals, and Shin’s has provided us with a new focus. Each of us is at a different level in training (different belt levels) and we keep each other motivated to progress to the next level. I like that I have the opportunity to participate in the kid’s activities, and also that we aren’t the only ones doing so. There are quite a number of families that participate, and we all encourage each other. Since we started taking classes at Shin’s, my husband and I have both lost weight and have more energy. I find that I’m much better at coming regularly to these classes than I ever was at going to the gym, partly because I’m going there anyway to take the kids to their classes. But also, the friendly atmosphere and support from classmates and the instructors keeps us motivated to stick with it. I feel fortunate to have found Shin’s, as it has provided our family a common experience that has brought us together and provided healthy and positive benefits to all of us. Nilsen Family”
