Zipline party

Birthday Events at Our Martial Arts Center in Valencia

Our Indoor children’s zipline is designed to allow your child to use their own gravity to propel themselves from the top of our 22-foot platform. The children fly down the zipline with full suspension on a free moving pulley to the cushioned base of our gym. Your birthday party guests will spend one hour in the gym, and one hour in the party room. Shin’s Family Martial Arts Center is the only gym with 3 Olympic-sized trampolines, with one of the largest spring floors, and a 46-foot tumble track trampoline. Your party will be sure to bounce with excitement!

*As a result of the preparation time needed for the zipline, no more than 12 kids can attend this party unless more time is booked in the gym.

  • About 10 years ago, I walked through the doors of Shin’s with my 4 year old son.

“I had no idea 10 years later we’d still be walking through those doors (although in a better location now). Shin’s has almost become our second home. There are so many reasons why we have stayed with Shin’s. Of course Tae Kwon Do is a beautiful and powerful discipline, but there are many reasons why we picked Shin’s in particular. First of all, it’s the staff. Master Shin teaches the students to be their best and he expects nothing less of his staff. The staff has been consistently firm yet caring in their approach. Not just anyone can teach Tae Kwon Do, but Shin’s staff can. When I watch a class I feel they really work hard to make sure the students have improved their skills before they leave. They are not afraid to stop the class and work on minor details. Secondly, it’s the flexibility. When we signed up, we were able to pick the program that worked best for our family. With 3 very active children, our schedule can get very busy. With Shin’s flexibility, we can still attend Shin’s while my children participate in other sports as well. I should also add that Tae Kwon Do can help condition your children to do even better with any other sports they may be doing. In fact, each of my children has gotten something different out of Shin’s. My oldest has actually used what was taught in Safeguard, to fend off a bully. My second child attends because he simply likes the idea of reaching black belt. My youngest likes that Shin’s helps her to perform better in her other sports. There are so many different reasons to take Martial Arts. Thirdly, Master Shin and his staff care. It amazes me that they know everyone’s name and what is going on in there lives. They aren’t just interested in teaching Tae Kwon Do, but they are also interested in their students. We absolutely love Shin’s. We wouldn’t still be attending 10 years later if we didn’t. We are lucky to have a school like this in Santa Clarita. The Nobles”

  • Mom's happy heart

“My daughter who is 13 and has Autism (high functioning) has been going to the after school care and participating in 4 classes per week. I had the pleasure of watching her earn her yellow belt and was so impressed with the staff and their high energy to keep the kids focused and excited. My daughter loves to come to Shins and would go every day of the week if she could. I am thankful that when school is out, they still offer camp so that she isn't disappointed that she can't go. I can't say enough about this facility and the fact that my daughter is included in everything and is treated the same as everyone else makes this mother's heart very happy!!!”

  • Building better futures

“Dear Master Shin, I want to thank you and all the instructors I’ve had at Shin’s for your time, patience, and support for the past nine years. You gave me encouragement when things got tough. You taught me staying power when I wanted to quit and you taught me to never give up. You have given me pride in what I have accomplished that can only be earned thru years of hard work and commitment. I could not have accomplished my goal of earning a black belt if you were not there for me each time. I started at Shin’s when I was four years old. I was awkward and I struggled with many of the basic skills. There were lots of times I wanted to quit but my parents wouldn't let me. I had a hard time when I couldn't do a round house kick or a flying side kick perfectly. It was then that I wanted to give up. You always told me, “Never give up!” You also told us to “love the pain.” Well, with your help and my parents help, I didn’t give up, but I don’t know if I love the pain, even to this day. You were always there to encourage me and let me know when I mastered a skill. I remember one time at the old building; I did a flying side kick perfectly and you made a really big deal about it, telling the whole class to look at me do it again. That made me so proud and happy. It was times like those that made me want to keep doing Taekwondo. Now I have my Black Belt; I can still hardly believe it. It is one of the greatest accomplishments of my life and one that I will always treasure. I know that in the future when difficulties come my way in whatever I’m doing, I can overcome them if I stay on my goals and never give up. Thanks for everything!”

  • My son begged me to take Tae Kwon Do classes for two years…

“until I finally relented, and I’m really glad that I did. From the very first day, he loved it, both the Tae Kwon Do training and the gymnastics. I was pleased that Shin’s offers trampoline and tumbling which allowed him to continue his gymnastics training while introducing Tae Kwon Do. I also loved both the flexibility of Shin’s schedule, which offers a multitude of class times, and the variety of classes offered. My son hasn’t gotten bored; twice last year, new classes were introduced that took him into new directions. The instruction at Shin’s is top notch. I’ve been very impressed with their teaching techniques; the instructors break down each kick or strike into its basic components so that it’s easy to understand. Students are given guidance on improving their technique and are challenged to take their skills to the next level. The instructors provide an atmosphere of positive encouragement while at the same time teaching discipline. They emphasize showing respect to each other, instructors, and parents. They include safety talks and instruction on how to handle bullies. The classes are well organized with warm-ups and conditioning at the beginning of each class, followed by a variety of drills. But, each class is unique so you don’t get bored in the same-old routine. Over the last 10 months, my daughter, husband and I have all joined up as well, so now it’s a family affair. We attend classes together a couple times a week, and go our own way on other days to classes that match our specific interests. Over dinner, we tell each other about new techniques we learned. Together, we are working towards our goals, and Shin’s has provided us with a new focus. Each of us is at a different level in training (different belt levels) and we keep each other motivated to progress to the next level. I like that I have the opportunity to participate in the kid’s activities, and also that we aren’t the only ones doing so. There are quite a number of families that participate, and we all encourage each other. Since we started taking classes at Shin’s, my husband and I have both lost weight and have more energy. I find that I’m much better at coming regularly to these classes than I ever was at going to the gym, partly because I’m going there anyway to take the kids to their classes. But also, the friendly atmosphere and support from classmates and the instructors keeps us motivated to stick with it. I feel fortunate to have found Shin’s, as it has provided our family a common experience that has brought us together and provided healthy and positive benefits to all of us. Nilsen Family”

  • Why You Should Take Tae Kwon Do

“INTRO Think: Many people are victims of bullies who beat them up. Do you want to be one of them? To prevent you from getting bullied, there is a thing called Tae Kwon Do. Discover this martial art, as we journey through kicks and punches to learn three good reasons for studying Tae Kwon Do: Self-Defense, Stature, and Discipline. REASON 1: Self-Defense To begin with, you should learn Tae Kwon Do because if somebody attacks you, you can defend yourself. Many kids are bullied each year, and some are even kidnapped, but you can prevent yourself from being one of them by learning this martial art. For example, most people who can hurt you, can easily be stopped by a kick between the legs. Besides, if your muscles are strong enough and you’re in top shape, you could defend yourself and even if the person manages to punch you, you might not get hurt so bad. Tae Kwon Do can defend and protect you REASON 2: Stature Secondly, you should learn Tae Kwon Do because when you get fit, you’ll look quite impressive delivering punches and kicks. Have you seen those marital art movies? When you become a black-belt, you could perform moves like those. Who knows? Once you get really good at Tae Kwon Do, you could get signed up to be in a movie, and, maybe you might be a star! In any case, Tae Kwon Do can make you look impressive Why You Should Take Tae Kwon Do REASON 3: Discipline Finally, you must take Tae Kwon Do to learn discipline. Yes, I said discipline. Tae Kwon Do isn’t just about the moves. It doesn’t matter how strong your kicks are, or how fast your punches are, if you are undisciplined, you won’t get your next belt. To have discipline, do your best, be respectful, say “Yes sir” to anything your Master says in class, bow to the flags when you come in/out of the Dojang, and remain quiet at all times, except when you are kicking. When you kick, yell “kiap!” Just doing those simple things will make you better liked by the instructors and admired by others. Discipline means that you train the body and mind to react automatically, and not to use force unless necessary. Tae Kwon Do is discipline COUNTER-ARGUMENT Many people say that if someone fights you, you should tell an adult. But what if the bullying doesn’t stop after you tell? What if someone starts punching and beating you? Are you just going to let he/she finish you off, and then later tell on them? Or, are you going to show your opponent what you think of the bullying? Tae Kwon Do is about self-defense CLOSING So, as you have learned, Tae Kwon Do isn’t just kicks. It’s discipline, respect, stature and self-defense. I believe that Tae Kwon Do promotes health, learning, protection and fun. Remember, Tae Kwon Do is: Defense and Offense, Stature, Discipline and Respect. So, why don’t you sign up for some Tae Kwon Do lessons today? KIAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
