Demo Team

Students who excel in either Tricking & Tumbling will have the opportunity to join one of Shin’s Demonstration Teams. Team practices consist of a combination of elements from martial arts, acrobatics, dance and gymnastics with an emphasis on showmanship. Open hand and weapons choreography are accompanied by dramatic dance and programmatic music. The goal is to command the attention of the audience. The majority of team training will focus on high-flying aerial-acrobatic maneuvers and tricks. These stunning movements attain the goal of capturing the crowd, improving physical agility, balance, strength, coordination, and endurance as well as performing an artistic display of talent. This program is by invitation only.

  • Best after school program in Santa Clarita

“My son Jacob has been going to the Shin’s after school program for a couple of years now. We LOVE Shins. They pick him up from school, he gets the majority of his homework done while he is there and gets to take class. My son was in other day care situations where they basically sat in a room or visited a playground. At Shins there is no sitting around, no being bored watching the clock for mom. The instructors are amazing. They truly care about our children. My son is completely comfortable at Shins… it is like his home away from home. He has progressed from Tae Kwon Do to the Master’s Club and the Pre-Team which has been absolutely amazing for his self esteem. It truly does take a village to raise a child and I am glad that Shins is part of my village. PS As a side note, I have even started taking class at Shins!”

  • Discipline, Courage, Determination… and Just Plain Hard Work.

“Discipline, courage, determination, and just plain hard work. These are words that come to mind when I think about my experiences at Shin’s Black Belt Academy. Since my first day of class to the present, each time I enter the studio I know I am in for one tough workout that will challenge me and teach me the aforementioned words. The classes are well organized, taught with passion by Master Shin, and constantly changing to best suit his students. The environment of the classes are a direct result of Master Shin’s personality and ability to make his students feel like they are accomplishing something special, which they are. Master Shin’s pleasant demeanor and obvious enjoyment for his job, along with his excellent teaching techniques and verbal praises have made me more aware of how I can better myself as a teacher and basketball coach. Having also seen Master Shin work with children and teenagers I am convinced that he is truly a gifted teacher and a very good person.”

“There are no benches in martial arts. There is no right field in martial arts. Although not by design, the bench and the position of right field undermine the very thing that a sport should do for a child: raise self esteem. As a teacher I see first hand the role good self esteem plays in a student’s academic success. Self esteem can do more to determine how much a student can achieve then will raw intelligence, a good teacher or the latest in classroom technology. A quality martial arts training will raise a student’s self esteem. It is goal oriented (the coveted black belt), with small successes built in along the way (the other colored belts). No one sits on the bench. Students are involved the entire time. They learn team work as they hold bags for others to practice. They learn how to work with others as they spar. They learn how to win and how to lose, all the while keeping their self respect in tact. Not just any martial arts program can provide the above. It takes a special, talented and trained instructor to accomplish this. Master Shin is that instructor. He is the rare sort of teacher that can respond to young children, teenagers and adults equally. I have had Master Shin’s students sit in my own classroom. These students showed respect for their teachers, fellow classmates and themselves. They are driven to succeed, focused and possess self control. As a junior high teacher, I know these are rare qualities indeed for this age group. Master Shin provides quality instruction, a safe environment and serves as a positive role model. As a green belt in his adult class, I have seen first hand the kind of teacher Master Shin is. He is not only a role model for children, he is a role model for the teachers of your children, such as me.”

  • Building better futures

“Dear Master Shin, I want to thank you and all the instructors I’ve had at Shin’s for your time, patience, and support for the past nine years. You gave me encouragement when things got tough. You taught me staying power when I wanted to quit and you taught me to never give up. You have given me pride in what I have accomplished that can only be earned thru years of hard work and commitment. I could not have accomplished my goal of earning a black belt if you were not there for me each time. I started at Shin’s when I was four years old. I was awkward and I struggled with many of the basic skills. There were lots of times I wanted to quit but my parents wouldn't let me. I had a hard time when I couldn't do a round house kick or a flying side kick perfectly. It was then that I wanted to give up. You always told me, “Never give up!” You also told us to “love the pain.” Well, with your help and my parents help, I didn’t give up, but I don’t know if I love the pain, even to this day. You were always there to encourage me and let me know when I mastered a skill. I remember one time at the old building; I did a flying side kick perfectly and you made a really big deal about it, telling the whole class to look at me do it again. That made me so proud and happy. It was times like those that made me want to keep doing Taekwondo. Now I have my Black Belt; I can still hardly believe it. It is one of the greatest accomplishments of my life and one that I will always treasure. I know that in the future when difficulties come my way in whatever I’m doing, I can overcome them if I stay on my goals and never give up. Thanks for everything!”

  • Shin’s Family Tae Kwon Do Martial Arts Fitness Center – The Best Place In Santa Clarita for All Your Martial Arts Needs…and More!!!

“Nearly nine years ago our daughter Jamie asked if she could “try karate.” This simple request began a great family adventure that none of us could have ever imagined. We enrolled Jamie at Shin’s Family Martial Arts at the age of eight not knowing how long ‘her trial’ would actually last. With the support of Master Shin (and his amazing staff) our journey has taken a number of twists. Jamie quickly realized she “loved Tae Kwon Do” and attending Shin’s. While having fun Jamie became physically fit and matured. We appreciated that our basic family tenants of integrity, honesty and the benefits of hard work were naturally reinforced as a part of the Shin’s curriculum. As a family we’ve met so many wonderful families and kids at Shin’s. Our own “kid” is now a young woman and a second degree black belt. She enjoys assisting younger children at Shin’s and now helps Master Shin with coaching Team Fury (Shin’s Family Martial Arts Center’s National Sparring Team)… what a journey! Master Shin, his Instructors and office staff are professional, courteous and caring. They truly love what they are doing and it shows! We’d invite anyone to contact us about the benefits of joining the Shin’s Family. It’s truly a fun, family environment! Greg, Kathy & Jamie Reynar”
